Scope of practice

Run the call at paramedic scope

Everything an AEMT can do, plus:

  • Manual defibrillation, synchronized cardioversion and transcutaneous pacing
  • 12-lead interpretation
  • Endotracheal intubation and needle decompression
  • Medications such as amiodarone, midazolam and diphenhydramine

The monitor

Rhythms you have to read

Apply the monitor and the preceptor reads you the rhythm, anything from sinus rhythm and SVT to atrial fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, ventricular fibrillation and asystole. Each scenario's rhythm is written in advance, and the grader checks your electrical therapy against it.

Scoring

Graded on the advanced-level sheets

Paramedic and AEMT scenarios share the National Registry's advanced-level patient assessment sheets. Your score is out of the sheet's own total, and the critical criteria fail an attempt on their own.

Medical · P302

48 points, transport within 15 minutes

Six points more than the EMT sheet's 42. It adds a 2-point Diagnostics line (applying the ECG monitor for dyspnea and chest pain), AVPU as a vital sign, a transport re-evaluation, and four reassessment lines in place of one. There is no line for the verbal report.

Trauma · P301

42 points, transport within 10 minutes

The same structure and points as the EMT trauma sheet, with a head-to-toe secondary assessment worth 19 of the 42.

Walk through the trauma lines →

Your performance is evaluated by an autonomous AI grading system. Scores are for instructional self-assessment only and are not predictive of the NREMT, the NCLEX or any other certification exam.

Scenarios and questions

100+ paramedic scenarios

Medical and trauma calls across the same range as the EMT and AEMT tracks, written for paramedic care. Practice questions are sorted into six areas, each with a worked explanation: airway, respiration and ventilation; cardiology and resuscitation; trauma; medical and OB/GYN; EMS operations; and clinical judgment.

Questions

Asked & answered.

Which skill sheets are paramedic scenarios graded on?

The National Registry's advanced-level patient assessment sheets: the 48-point medical sheet (P302) and the 42-point trauma sheet (P301). The medical sheet has a 2-point Diagnostics line that requires applying the ECG monitor for dyspnea and chest pain.

Do scenarios include the cardiac monitor?

Yes. Apply the monitor and the preceptor tells you the rhythm. Each scenario's rhythm is written in advance, and the grader checks your electrical therapy against it.

What can I do in a paramedic scenario that I can't at AEMT?

Everything paramedic scope adds: manual defibrillation, synchronized cardioversion, transcutaneous pacing, 12-lead interpretation, endotracheal intubation, needle decompression, and medications such as amiodarone.

Does the NREMT still give a paramedic psychomotor exam?

No. The National Registry's AEMT and paramedic psychomotor exam ended on June 30, 2024. Since July 1, 2024, AEMT and paramedic certification has used a single exam, and your education program verifies your hands-on skills. Medceptor grades against the advanced-level sheets because they still lay out a complete patient assessment.

Can I try it for free?

Yes. The free plan includes three paramedic scenarios, fully graded, and 15 practice questions a month. No card needed.
